Hardware Engineer I

About The Position
V2X is seeking an entry-level, multi-disciplined Hardware Engineer to support its Tolling Engineering group in Harvard, Massachusetts. The engineer will work with a small team to develop, test, and install hardware sensors and components for electronic toll collection systems. The position requires reporting to V2X offices in Harvard for in-office and on-site work, and includes support for off-site installations and travel. The work combines office and field activities in indoor and outdoor locations.
Requirements
- Entry-level experience: 0–2 years.
- Understanding of digital and analog hardware design principles.
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals, including IP/TCP/UDP, routing, switching, and wireless communication.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
Nice To Haves
- Hands-on experience with prototyping tools such as breadboards, development kits, and lab instrumentation.
- Ability to diagnose hardware and network issues at both system and component levels.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and test hardware components, boards, and embedded systems.
- Build functional prototypes using rapid-development tools, test equipment, and iterative hardware design methods.
- Integrate wired and wireless networking capabilities into hardware solutions.
- Configure, test, and troubleshoot network interfaces, protocols, and communication layers.
- Collaborate with systems, software, and mechanical engineering teams to define requirements and ensure cohesive system performance.
- Support product installation, validation, and early manufacturing builds.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions for future designs.
