About The Position

Anduril is seeking a Senior Hardware Engineer for Special Projects to serve as Core Tech’s technical problem solver across its portfolio. The engineer will take on high-priority, short-duration projects—from a few days to a few months—wherever teams need support. Projects may involve hardware integration, customer demonstrations, test automation, production-yield visibility, or process improvement. The role calls for someone who can move between mechanical hardware, electronics, software, and systems-level engineering, working effectively with tight timelines and changing priorities. The engineer will work hands-on across hardware, software, test, manufacturing, and process domains, diagnosing technical issues and delivering practical solutions. They will also develop tools and analyses, provide system-level input on engineering decisions, and work across design engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, test, quality, and operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Systems Engineering.
  • At least 8 years of engineering experience spanning at least two of the following: systems engineering, electromechanical hardware, embedded electronics, test/integration, software or scripting, and manufacturing engineering.
  • Demonstrated ability to move between different technical domains and deliver results without an extended ramp-up period.
  • Hands-on hardware experience, such as designing fixtures, debugging assemblies, running tests, or working on a production floor.
  • Working proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language, such as Python, MATLAB, or C++, with demonstrated use in test automation, data analysis, or tooling.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to brief executives, write technical reports, and document procedures for other engineers.
  • Comfort working with ambiguous scope and shifting priorities, including defining problems as well as solving them.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with 3D CAD tools and engineering drawings/GD&T.
  • Familiarity with thermal or structural analysis tools.
  • Experience developing MBSE artifacts or system architecture models.
  • Background in defense or aerospace systems, particularly communication systems, avionics, or autonomous platforms.
  • Experience building demonstrations or technical packages for customer engagements.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes for electromechanical assemblies, PCBAs, or drive systems.
  • Exposure to mission-level modeling and simulation.

Responsibilities

  • Own and execute short-duration, high-impact technical projects across Core Tech, spanning hardware, software, test, manufacturing, and process domains.
  • Diagnose and resolve cross-functional technical issues, including integration failures, test escapes, supplier quality problems, and production-line bottlenecks.
  • Plan and execute customer and internal demonstrations, including defining demo architecture, coordinating resources, preparing technical materials, verifying system readiness, and running the demo.
  • Develop test software, automation scripts, and data-analysis tools using Python, MATLAB, or similar tools to close verification gaps, improve test coverage, or reduce manual effort.
  • Build dashboards, reports, and data pipelines to provide engineering and leadership visibility into yield, test results, and other operational or test metrics.
  • Identify and bridge gaps arising from fast development cycles, including documentation and technical debt.
  • Perform system-level analysis and trade studies to provide timely technical input on architecture decisions, component selection, and integration strategy.
  • Work with design engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, test, quality, and operations teams to resolve cross-functional problems.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full-time offers.
  • Top-tier benefits for full-time employees, described as a comprehensive and competitive package available at little to no cost to employees.
