About The Position

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related technical field.
• At least 5 years of HSE experience.
• Experience with 29 CFR 1926 governing construction and at least 5 years of experience delivering capital projects.
• Direct experience supporting contractor safety management programs and/or permit-to-work (PTW) systems.
• Experience working with OSHA regulations, risk management practices, and safe work permitting requirements.
• Ability to translate regulatory requirements and company standards into practical, field-executable procedures.
• Experience supporting contractor lifecycle processes, including prequalification, onboarding, field oversight, and performance evaluation.
• Physical ability to navigate diverse construction environments, including bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, and lifting up to 25 pounds unassisted.
• Authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis; Lilly will not sponsor work authorization or visas for this role.

• OSHA 30-Hour Construction training.

Responsibilities

• Support management of GFD’s Contractor Safety Management Program (CSMP).
• Manage and/or own relationships with leveraged Safety Advisors or strategic partners.
• Serve as the subject matter expert for department HSE documents and standards.
• Coach GFD project teams on compliance with the CSMP.
• Set project safety orientation expectations aligned with compliance standards and industry trends.
• Address environmental requirements and permits in conjunction with local regulations.
• Confirm in the field that each project applies the CSMP.
• Train GFD personnel on the CSMP.
• Support GFD safety processes for hazard recognition and risk assessment, Confined Space Entry (CSE), Hot Work Permits (HWP), Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO), Safe To Operate Permits (STOP), and related processes.
• Conduct HSE project field execution inspections against regulatory, corporate, and GFD standards.
• Track leading and lagging indicators and develop project analytics.
• Work with Global HSE and GFD HSE subject matter experts to align with corporate priorities and standards and GFD requirements.
• Lead, support, and/or influence investigations and root cause analyses of unplanned adverse incidents.
• Apply technical skills at a network/global level and demonstrate influence.
• Transition to a site HSE operations role after construction and commissioning and qualification are completed, supporting medicine manufacturing.
