About The Position

Vantage is hiring an onsite, in-house Critical Facilities Engineer in Ashburn, Virginia, to help maintain and repair data center infrastructure. The role is part of the Site Operations Department, which is responsible for the health and performance of mechanical and electrical systems, building maintenance, and data modules. Site Operations staff work onsite around the clock and are the first line of defense for campus uptime and customer installations. The engineer will work hands-on, independently and with a team, to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair critical electrical and mechanical systems. The position emphasizes reliable customer service, safe work practices, and preventing disruption to mission-critical data centers. Engineers use a Critical Maintenance Management System to plan and track work, and the team performs much of its maintenance directly rather than outsourcing it. The role may involve managing projects, responding to emergencies, coordinating vendors, preparing and maintaining operating procedures, and developing reliability reports. Travel is expected to be less than 5%, occasionally for training. The position may require work outside normal business hours, including weekends, late nights, holidays, and on-call support. The posting lists a pay range of $38–$55 per hour for Levels I and II; compensation depends on qualifications and experience.

  • Ability to read commercial building blueprints and understand electrical single-line diagrams and schematics.
  • Knowledge of commonly used mechanical and electrical systems, practices, and procedures needed to operate data centers.
  • Technical writing skills and experience creating, coordinating, updating, or modifying MOPs, SOPs, and EOPs for critical facilities equipment, including supporting new systems and researching technical requirements.
  • Strong technical skills or training; intent to obtain a license within a reasonable time.
  • Reliable transportation for reporting to work for shifts or emergencies.
  • Successful completion of a background check.
  • Ability to work in a high-stress, fast-paced environment with shifting priorities, and willingness to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, late nights, holidays, and on-call support.
