About The Position

The Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist is responsible for providing health, safety, and environmental guidance throughout Plasman operations. This position works closely with the Corporate EHS Manager, Human Resources Manager, and plant management to help ensure compliance, support continuous improvement, and promote EHS as a value-added part of the overall business.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • OSHA 30-hour training required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive Health, Safety, and Environmental experience in an automotive or industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to perform well in high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to prioritize and adjust work based on business requirements.
  • Sound financial and business insight.
  • Ability to travel independently to, from, and within designated regions.
  • Reliable transportation required.
  • Understanding of applicable company policies, procedures, quality, environmental, health, and safety expectations.

Nice To Haves

  • College degree in Environmental Health & Safety or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Experience across multiple manufacturing processes, including molding, paint, and assembly, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain systems to ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal legislation and regulations, as well as Plasman Environmental, Health & Safety policies.
  • Implement Environmental, Health & Safety programs, including performance standards, measurement systems, training, performance evaluations, and best practices.
  • Provide technical and regulatory assistance to plant operations.
  • Assist plant management and the Corporate EHS Manager with establishing systems, accountabilities, education, and training to support regulatory compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Support plant inspections, accident investigations, health and safety compliance audits, Lockout/Tagout, personal protective equipment, fire safety, emergency planning, and noise sampling surveys.
  • Coordinate environmental reporting, permitting, and regulatory due diligence.
  • Serve as the Management Representative for the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System and ensure compliance with program requirements.
  • Coordinate the plant ergonomics program.
  • Support management system audits and corrective action activities as required.
  • Ensure employees receive appropriate safety and environmental training and understand assigned job tasks.
  • Ensure adequate safety resources are available throughout the facility, including training, safety requirements, procedures, work instructions, and related tools.
  • Support Human Resources with workers’ compensation cost containment and early and safe return-to-work programs.
  • Promote teamwork and help maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Assist Human Resources and the Corporate EHS Manager with other related duties as required.
