This position is within the Division of Materials and Waste Management (DMWM) at our Northwest District Office in Wood County. The role serves as the operations lead for the division’s field staff, providing support, guidance, and directives to ensure staff are up-to-date on objectives, policies, and best practices. Responsibilities include reviewing technical reports, evaluating environmental data, and conducting field inspections and sampling at permitted solid waste facilities to ensure compliance with state rules and regulations. The position also tracks goals and deliverables of field work, informs division leadership on work progress, and contributes to developing division policies, procedures, and rules for waste management. As subject matter expertise is gained, the role involves representing the agency in technical workgroups, enforcement discussions, and public meetings, and providing support to communities, local governments, and facility operators on solid waste rules, trends, and best practices.
