About The Position

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field required
• 3 + years experience in a managerial or technical position in a manufacturing environment with knowledge and proficiency in EH&S programs preferred
• Ability to maintain the highly confidential nature of medical information.
• Ability to work well with others, exercise sound judgment and solve problems, work independently and effectively manage workload, and work well under pressure.
• Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, and be resourceful, well-organized, meticulous, and accurate.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and environmental compliance requirements.
• Experience with incident investigation and root-cause analysis methodologies.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and training skills.

Responsibilities

• Inspects the facility to identify safety, health, and environmental risks.
• Develops and implements inspection policies and procedures, and a schedule of routine inspections.
• Develops health and safety procedures for all areas of the company.
• Prepares and schedules training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics.
• Monitors compliance with safety procedures.
• Design and maintain company policies adhering to local, state, and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations.
• Keep abreast of any changes to environmental, health, and safety laws and regulations that impact the company, and implement company policies accordingly.
• Develop, implement, and maintain facility-wide safety programs, policies, and procedures.
• Conduct risk assessments, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and machine-specific safety evaluations.
• Lead incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective action planning.
• Oversee lockout/tagout (LOTO), machine guarding, confined space, hot work, and fall-protection programs.
• Manage safety training for all employees, including new-hire orientation and annual refreshers.
• Complete and file on a timely basis all federal, state, and local environmental reports and chemical inventory requests, and submit payment for all required fees on a timely basis.
• Responsible for identifying chemical hazards and hazardous workplace conditions.
• Maintain a current inventory and Material Safety Data Sheet for all chemical hazards on the property.
• Take corrective action to eliminate, contain, or minimize the hazards, or coordinate the removal of physical, biological, and chemical hazards.
• Serve as a contact with all federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulatory bodies, and property and workers’ compensation insurance representatives.
• Ensure complete and thorough accident investigation, accurate recording of the details, and implementation of corrective action for all work-related injuries and illnesses.
• Maintain employees’ safety & environmental training records.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements.
• Participate in all property and facility inspections conducted by federal, state, and local agencies, and insurance carriers.
• Prepare and distribute various reports and forms including monthly department inspection reports, etc.
• Review inspection reports and take corrective action on identified safety or environmental hazards.
• Oversee the Safety Committee and provide guidance to ensure employee engagement.
• Provide assistance or perform other duties as assigned.
