About The Position

KDM Engineering is seeking interns for its 2026 Summer Internship Program. This program is designed to help interns grow their expertise, skills, and experience through a client-recognized training and mentorship program. Interns will gain exposure to multiple departments and projects through a hands-on learning approach, enabling them to become effective and knowledgeable engineers at a faster pace. Interns will learn to create detailed designs of mid-voltage distribution projects up to 34kV, interface with clients, and utilize company, OSHA, and IEEE standards. Distribution projects may include 4 to 12kV conversions, Overhead to Underground conversions, smart grid, cable, and conduit design. Interns will work closely with engineering and design teams, provide direction to drafters and designers, manage drafting and designer duties, ensure design schedules are met, and provide project status updates. The role requires developing advanced skills and working both independently and within a team.

Requirements

  • Actively enrolled in an accredited Electrical Engineering or related Undergraduate Program or Master’s program.
  • Must be a Junior or Senior.
  • Demonstrate interest in infrastructure or related field.
  • Competent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Basic proficiency with office software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
  • Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.
  • Willingness to comply with all pre-employment screening, including but not limited to, drug testing, reference verification, education and employment verification, and background screening.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

  • Create detailed designs of mid-voltage distribution projects up to and including 34kV.
  • Interface closely with clients.
  • Utilize company, OSHA, and IEEE standards to facilitate design projects.
  • Work closely with other engineering and design team members to coordinate overall design basis.
  • Provide direction and guidance to drafters and designers.
  • Direct the flow of drafting and designer duties.
  • Ensure design schedules are met.
  • Regularly provide project status updates to project engineer.
  • Develop advanced skills.
  • Work both independently and within a team.
