About The Position

Requirements

• Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) Certification.
• Must meet applicable state and federal certification and/or licensing requirements.
• Advanced ability to read standard blueprints and electrical schematics concerning plumbing and HVAC.
• Above-average engineering operations skills and strong general mechanical ability.
• Proficiency in at least three of the listed maintenance categories, above-average skills in three more, and basic skills in the remaining categories: air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finish skills, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and/or general building management.
• Solid knowledge and skill in the safe use of hand and power tools and other materials required for repair and maintenance tasks.
• Ability to perform complex repairs and advanced troubleshooting with little or no supervision.
• Ability to perform Engineer on Duty responsibilities, including readings and rounds.
• Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance and heavier objects or tasks with assistance; move on stairs, service ramps, and/or ladders; and reach overhead and below the knees, bend, twist, pull, and stoop.
• Ability to enter and locate work-related information using computers.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent and vocational or technical background.
• Extensive experience and training in general maintenance, electrical or refrigeration, parts inventory and requisition, and exterior and interior surface preparation and painting.
• At least 2 years of hotel engineering/maintenance experience.
• Valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Respond to guest repair requests and resolve maintenance issues with guests and customers with little to no supervision.
• Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication, and visually inspect tools, equipment, and machines.
• Identify, locate, and operate equipment shut-off valves; maintain maintenance inventory; and requisition parts and supplies as needed.
• Communicate each day’s activities and problems to other shifts using approved communication programs and standards.
• Read blueprints and electrical schematics concerning plumbing and HVAC.
• Perform highly complex repairs on property, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, air-conditioning, refrigeration, and pool-heating equipment with little or no supervision, following company standards and applicable codes.
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment and systems, including pumps and motors, plumbing, electrical equipment, HVAC, cosmetic items, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, and internet devices; replace electrical switches and outlets and program televisions.
• Use the Lockout/Tagout system before performing maintenance work.
• Troubleshoot hotel mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems and use engineering computer programs related to preventive maintenance, energy management, and other systems.
• Perform Engineer on Duty responsibilities, including readings and rounds.
• Train and mentor other engineers as necessary.
• Follow company and safety and security policies; report maintenance problems, hazards, accidents, or injuries; complete safety training and certifications; and store flammable materials properly.
• Maintain a clean and professional uniform and appearance, protect proprietary information and company assets, and provide courteous guest service.
• Develop positive working relationships, support team goals, listen and respond to employee concerns, and communicate clearly and professionally.
• Meet quality expectations and standards; use computers to enter and locate work-related information; perform other reasonable duties as requested.
