About The Position
Creighton Manning, a GAI Consultants company, is growing its Highway Design Group and is seeking a licensed Project Engineer to lead highway design work and manage smaller projects from start to finish. The role partners with traffic, structural, and construction inspection teams. The company has a strong pipeline of secured work, allowing the engineer to focus on engineering rather than business development. The position involves designing roads, intersections, and trails that connect New York communities. It is full-time and hybrid, with listed locations in Albany and Poughkeepsie, New York, and pay ranges that also include White Plains, New York.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET/EAC-accredited program.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- At least 8 years of highway or roadway design experience.
- Proficiency with MicroStation, OpenRoads, and AutoTurn.
- Working knowledge of the NYSDOT Highway Design Manual.
- Active membership in a professional organization.
- Occasional after-hours work for deadlines and meetings.
Responsibilities
- Design roadways, trails, sidewalks, and intersections, including roundabouts and traffic signals.
- Check calculations and prepare construction contract documents.
- Coordinate with clients and multidisciplinary teams, and present at project meetings.
- Prepare reports, estimates, and basic proposals.
- Provide technical guidance and oversight to junior engineers and technicians.
- Manage smaller projects from start to finish.
