About The Position
The Emergency Department Technician I assists the healthcare team with basic department activities, including stocking, retrieving results, and tracking patients. Under the guidance of a registered nurse, the technician performs patient care tasks such as taking vital signs, pulse oximetry, ECGs, phlebotomy, and other simple procedures. This is a full-time, day-shift position at Maine Medical Center in Portland, with three 12-hour shifts from 7:30 AM to 8:00 PM and a required weekend rotation.
Requirements
- High school graduate or GED preferred.
- Required certification as EMT-Advanced, EMT-Basic, Medical Assistant, or CNA.
- Current BLS certification required, or must be obtained within 30 days of the start date.
- Less than six months of experience as an Emergency Department Technician.
Responsibilities
- Assist with basic department activities, including stocking, results retrieval, and patient tracking.
- Under registered nurse guidance, perform patient care tasks including vital signs, pulse oximetry, ECGs, phlebotomy, and other simple procedures.
