About The Position

Requirements

• Education supplemented by vocational training in para-medical program (EMT-1 or Paramedic). Or an accredited LVN program as evidenced by licensure.
• BLS certification through AHA only
• EMT certification or Licensed Paramedic
• Current California LVN licensure with IV certification
• Phlebotomy State Certification (if not licensed paramedic or LVN with IV cert)
• Knowledge of Anatomy and physiology
• Knowledge of Medical modalities.
• Knowledge of Basic arrhythmia
• Knowledge of Basic EMT procedures.
• Knowledge of Modern office equipment, information system and software programs
• Knowledge of Report writing.
• Ability to understand, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, standards, and procedures.
• Ability to keep abreast of developments in the field of expertise.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to prepare necessary reports and records.
• Ability to manage emergency or crisis situations; requires judgment/action which could result in undesirable patient outcomes.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience as Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-1, paramedic or LVN) preferred but not required.
• Basic arrhythmia (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Provides direct supportive care to patients.
• Performs designated procedures under supervision of the Registered Nurse or Physician within their scope of practice.
• Maintains, demonstrates and is assessed on the knowledge and skills necessary to provide for the physical, psychosocial and cultural needs appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her assigned unit.
