Requirements

  • Active Texas Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) License
  • Current CPR/BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish
  • Minimum 1 year of professional experience as a Dental Assistant
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to infection control standards
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment

Nice To Haves

  • Nitrous oxide sedation monitoring certification
  • Prophylaxis (prophy) certification
  • Dental sealant application certification
  • Experience in a multi-doctor practice setting

Responsibilities

  • Provide four-handed chairside assistance to dentists and dental hygienists during procedures and examinations
  • Maintain efficient patient flow and doctor schedules to minimize wait times and optimize practice productivity
  • Expose and process diagnostic radiographs with precision and accuracy
  • Review and verify patient medical and dental histories, document vital signs, and record important health information in patient charts
  • Sterilize instruments and equipment following each patient visit and maintain a clean, organized treatment room and sterilization area
  • Assist with treatment planning, document clinical findings, record treatment in patient records, and obtain necessary treatment consents
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene best practices and post-operative care instructions as prescribed by the dentist
  • Apply fluoride protective coatings and assist hygienists with polishing procedures for pediatric patients under age 10
  • Fabricate temporary restorations and custom impressions from preliminary impressions
  • Perform routine weekly and monthly equipment maintenance tasks, including waterline management and trap changes
  • Communicate inventory needs to the lead assistant or manager and maintain well-stocked treatment rooms while minimizing waste
  • Manage lab case documentation, track outgoing cases, monitor delivery dates, and coordinate with the schedule for upcoming delivery appointments
  • Uphold infection control policies and protocols to protect the health and safety of patients and team members
