This position involves assisting judges in resolving matters before the court and in courtroom proceedings. The role also includes advising the Chief Judge and department heads on legal and policy matters concerning the court. Key responsibilities include researching and analyzing legal issues, preparing written memoranda, summaries, and presentations, and assisting in drafting and editing legal documents such as opinions, orders, notices, and decisions. The Law Clerk V will consult with judges on legal interpretations and applications, track pending legislation impacting the court, and respond to litigant inquiries. Additionally, the role requires coordinating with outside counsel on litigation involving the court, reviewing and responding to subpoenas, performing administrative tasks, and assisting with miscellaneous matters as directed by the Chief Judge or Director of Legal Research. The duties are not exhaustive and may extend beyond the listed responsibilities.
