About The Position
Rycon Construction, an employee-owned company (ESOP) and an ENR Top 400 Contractor, provides nationwide construction management, general contracting, design-build, and program management services. Specializing in new construction, renovations, and adaptive reuse projects across various sectors including aviation, healthcare, higher education, industrial/warehouse, commercial, multi-unit residential, student housing, food service/dining, data centers/mission critical, retail, financial, self-storage, government/municipality, and LEED facilities, Rycon is equipped to deliver a comprehensive range of services. The company also boasts an in-house Architectural Finishes & Specialty Fabrication Division. We are seeking an experienced assistant project manager for our Washington DC office, to be based out of the Richmond, VA area.
Requirements
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience managing multiple retail commercial construction projects valued at $5 million and up.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Must have the ability to direct complex projects from concept to fully operational status.
- Computer Skills Required – Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Ability to create material take-off’s.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Should be highly organized, highly motivated and a detail directed problem solver.
Nice To Haves
- College degree preferred, but not required.
Responsibilities
- Reading of documents and contracts.
- Writing Subcontracts.
- Negotiating and awarding subcontracts.
- Reviewing/preparing subcontractors scope of work.
- Develop and maintain schedules using Microsoft Project.
- Attend meetings and prepare minutes.
- Review/prepare change orders.
- Develop/track submittments, RFI’s and cost reports.
- Maintain owner relations.
