About The Position

The Electrical Construction Assistant Superintendent supports the Superintendent and Construction Manager in overseeing electrical and instrumentation construction for ultra-pure water (UPW) plants on semiconductor projects. The role assists with day-to-day field coordination, subcontractor oversight, quality control, schedule execution, safety compliance, and progress reporting. It serves as a key field resource working with subcontractors, field engineers, and project management teams. The position supports construction activities across the UPW process, including design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and turnover. Duties include coordinating subcontractors and other trades, monitoring installation progress, helping resolve field issues, reviewing drawings and specifications, supporting quality and safety requirements, tracking labor and materials, and contributing to construction schedules and reports. The role also witnesses and documents electrical and instrumentation testing and helps prepare work packages, method statements, and construction procedures. This is a full-time, non-exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required.
At least 5 years of industrial electrical and instrumentation construction experience.
At least 2 years of field engineer or foreman experience.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
Knowledge of OSHA regulations and site safety requirements.
Experience with electrical systems, control systems, and utility infrastructure.
Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office, Procore, and Bluebeam.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of NEC, NFPA, ASME, ASTM, and SEMI requirements.
Working knowledge of electrical drawings, P&IDs, and construction sequencing.
Experience coordinating field construction activities with multiple contractors.
Ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment and spend significant time in the field.
Ability to perform field work in active construction environments, climb ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, and platforms, and access elevated work areas.
Ability to walk extensive distances across large project sites and work outdoors in varying environmental conditions.
Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to distinguish wire colors, indicator lights, and equipment markings.

Nice To Haves

Associate degree in Construction Management, Electrical Technology, Instrumentation Technology, or a related discipline.
Bachelor’s degree.
OSHA 30 certification.
Semiconductor facility construction experience, including UPW, WWT, PCW, CMP, bulk gas, or chemical systems.
BIM experience using Revit and Navisworks.
Commissioning and startup support experience.
Japanese and/or Mandarin language capability.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain a working understanding of the UPW process, including design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and turnover.
Support the Superintendent in coordinating electrical and instrumentation subcontractors and directing daily field activities.
Monitor field activities and promptly communicate issues, delays, and concerns.
Read and interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, loop drawings, schematics, P&IDs, and project specifications.
Assist in identifying and resolving field construction issues while supporting safety, quality, and productivity objectives.
Facilitate communication among project stakeholders and subcontractors and provide timely field feedback.
Build positive working relationships with subcontractor supervisors and trades personnel; promote a safe, productive, and collaborative work environment.
Coordinate field activities with owners, subcontractors, commissioning personnel, engineering teams, and other contractors.
Support planning and coordination of electrical and instrumentation construction activities and perform field constructability reviews.
Support schedule recovery efforts, corrective action plans, schedule maintenance, work sequencing, area readiness, and short-term look-ahead scheduling.
Verify the availability of manpower, tools, equipment, and materials for planned activities; monitor material deliveries and report shortages or procurement concerns.
Support subcontractor performance evaluations and maintain field documentation.
Inspect installations for compliance with project specifications, standards, and applicable codes; participate in quality assurance and quality control activities.
Conduct routine field inspections and track construction progress, labor productivity, and field progress.
Collect cost and labor information for forecasting and participate in coordination meetings, schedule reviews, RFIs, and change documentation.
Monitor critical path activities, communicate schedule risks, review progress information, and identify field risks, constraints, and improvement opportunities.
Prepare or assist with daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports; collect and verify subcontractor progress updates and field reports.
Help resolve work-front conflicts and access limitations; coordinate rack utilization, utility routing, shared work areas, scaffolding, and temporary access requirements.
Verify subcontractor attendance, workforce levels, and productivity; support field direction and review subcontractor reports and documentation.
Witness and document electrical and instrumentation testing, including continuity testing, insulation resistance testing, loop checks, and equipment inspections; maintain testing records.
Review installation methods, equipment requirements, and work procedures; report technical, quality, and safety concerns promptly.
Assist with preparing and implementing work packages, method statements, and construction procedures.
