About The Position

The Swim Coach at The Virginian Golf Club is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing a high-quality swimming program for members of all ages and skill levels. This role focuses on skill development, fitness, safety, and fostering a positive and motivating environment for swimmers. The Swim Coach ensures that all instruction and training align with club standards and promote a safe, engaging, and enjoyable aquatic experience.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a swim coach in a club or competitive setting.
  • Current CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard certifications.
  • Extensive knowledge of swimming techniques, training methods, and conditioning principles.
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to maintain focus, composure, and safety awareness in a fast-paced aquatic environment.
  • Organizational skills to plan practices, meets, and special events effectively.
  • Commitment to providing a positive, encouraging, and inclusive coaching environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification from a recognized swimming organization (e.g., USA Swimming, ASCA).
  • Experience managing youth swim programs or competitive teams.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, plan, and implement structured training programs and practice schedules for swimmers of all ages and skill levels.
  • Provide group and individual instruction focused on stroke development, technique improvement, and overall fitness.
  • Evaluate swimmer performance, track progress, and adjust training plans to support continuous improvement.
  • Maintain constant supervision during all swim activities, ensuring a safe environment and enforcing all pool and club safety regulations.
  • Organize and coordinate swim meets, special events, and interclub competitions in collaboration with staff and management.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, performance metrics, and certifications as required.
  • Inspect pool facilities and equipment regularly to ensure proper operation, cleanliness, and safety compliance.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with swimmers, parents, and management regarding schedules, expectations, and performance updates.
  • Lead and mentor Swim Assistants and other support staff to promote teamwork and consistent coaching standards.
  • Stay current on aquatic coaching methods, safety protocols, and club policies through ongoing training and certification.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Membership Manager or management team.
