About The Position
The Certified Surgical Tech - First Assistant provides direct support to surgeons during surgical procedures. The role includes positioning and preparing patients before surgery; helping maintain clear visibility for the surgeon with instruments such as retractors and sponges; controlling bleeding; closing surgical sites with sutures or staples; and dressing wounds properly. The First Assistant collaborates with doctors and other surgical team members to ensure appropriate post-operative patient care.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of a certified surgical technician program and a recognized first assistant training program.
- At least 1 year of experience as a certified surgical tech.
- Kentucky First Assist License.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct support to surgeons during surgical procedures.
