About The Position

Requirements

• Graduate of Surgical Technologist Training program, Associates Degree or greater than 5 years work experience and CST-FA certification OR Completion of a Hospital Based Surgical Tech Program, 15 years of ST experience and maintains current CST-FA certification from AST or NCCT.

Responsibilities

• First assist with open and endoscopic procedures
• Provide, assemble and care for organ procurement supplies, instruments and equipment before, during and after procedures
• Assist with cleaning, restocking and processing of the surgical suite, instruments and equipment as needed
• Identify and report situations requiring intervention to the RN or Clinician
• Serve as a clinical preceptor for new OR scrub tech, and OR technician students
• Serve as a resource person
• Provide direct assistance to transplant surgeon during organ procurement operations at donor hospitals
• Maintain direct contact with TGH OR staff coordinating recipient activities and OR readiness
• Maintain direct contact and assist with coordination duties with TGH lung and heart transplant coordinators
• Maintain direct contact and assist with coordination activities with the organ procurement organization (OPO)
• Arrange and assist with coordination of transplant team transportation at the donor hospital
• Assist with transporting donor organs
