About The Position
The Patient Care Assistant on the Medical Surgical Unit assists patients with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care to all patients, and helps maintain a safe environment. The role works under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse in charge of the team and/or unit. Central Maine Healthcare is an integrated healthcare delivery system serving approximately 400,000 residents across central, western, and midcoast Maine. Its network includes Central Maine Medical Center, Bridgton Hospital, Rumford Hospital, and the Maine College of Health Professions. The position is a per diem opportunity at Central Maine Medical Center, with variable shifts. The stated compensation estimate is $22.00 to $25.75; actual starting compensation depends on factors including skills, applicable experience, education, credentials, and licensure.
Requirements
- State-approved Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification is required.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Current BLS (AHA) certification within 30 days of hire and maintained as current.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
Nice To Haves
- Current phlebotomy certification upon hire is preferred.
- Current EKG certification upon hire is preferred.
- At least six months of previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office is preferred.
