About The Position

The Certified Medical Assistant Float - North Zone position is a full-time role requiring 40 hours weekly, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. This role involves traveling to surrounding clinics within the North Zone (Plano, McKinney, and Melissa) up to 75% of the time. The primary work location is TH Family Care 18157 at 1650 East Stacy Road, Allen TX 75069. Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
  • 1 year Medical Assistant experience within the last three years. (Required)
  • Successful completion of THPG Clinical Training (CT) educational program with demonstrated competency in required skills - within 90 days of job entry. (Required)
  • CMA - Certified Medical Assistant (Required)
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support maintained every 2 years (Required)

Nice To Haves

  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the health care provider, is responsible for the delivery of patient care that promotes the safety and well being of all patients.
  • Accurately performs preliminary physical tests such as: measuring blood pressure, recording weight, temperature, pulse and respiration and other measures as directed by established clinical protocols.
  • Perform general patient care by following established standards and procedures.
  • Greet and prepare patients for the health care provider.
  • Obtain and record vital signs including, but not limited to: blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, height, weight, drug allergies, and current medications and presenting problem.
  • Administer ordered medications and/or vaccines via oral, injection, topical, rectal, ophthalmic, and/or inhalant administration.
  • May be required to draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis as well as perform routine tests such as EKG's.
  • Schedule patients for diagnostic testing and follow up to ensure completion of testing.
  • Document patient plan(s) of care, tests and examination results in the medical record as directed by the provider.
  • Communicate with patient regarding test results and plan of care by phone or mail as directed by the provider.
  • Prepare, clean and sterilize instruments and maintain equipment, disposing of contaminated items according to protocol. Keep patient exam rooms stocked, clean and orderly.
  • Escalate non-routine issues, questions and/or concerns to the practice manager or healthcare provider(s).
  • Ensure safety checklists/quality controls are completed as required.
  • Provide for patient safety and protection of patient privacy rights.
  • May work in the front office as needed, as well as perform other duties as assigned by practice manager, more senior staff, or as requested by healthcare provider(s).
