About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the assigned Registered Nurse, the Certified Nursing Assistant performs direct patient care activities to meet patients’ personal needs and provide comfort. Care must address the needs of patients from infancy through old age and accommodate needs related to impairments, including hearing or sight limitations, substance abuse, language barriers, and potential abuse. The role incorporates the hospital’s commitment to patient rights, exceptional care, and its values and mission. Patient privacy and confidentiality must be maintained at all times. The position is scheduled for 32 hours on evening shifts, 3 p.m.–11 p.m., every other weekend, at BMC South.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Ability to communicate effectively in English with staff and patients.
Ability to prioritize multiple requests and provide timely patient care.
Compassion, empathy, and responsiveness to the needs of a variety of patients.
Valid Massachusetts Certified Nursing Assistant license, or proof of enrollment in an accredited nursing school and completion of Fundamentals of Nursing I & II.
Current BLS from the American Heart Association.

Nice To Haves

Experience as a nursing assistant is strongly preferred.
Computer experience is preferred.
