About The Position

The CDL Student is a temporary position that allows a candidate, with little to no experience operating a Class-A CDL motor vehicle, to complete our onsite certified training school and the opportunity to train with a professional Driver Trainer through a robust training program. This training program will teach advanced driving techniques such as: under-the-hood knowledge, parking, backing in, and turning of an Eagle Delivery Truck as well as general vehicle operations with the objective of having the trainee obtain a Class-A CDL. Upon successful completion of the program, it is intended, based on availability at the time of training completion, that the employee will transition to a delivery driver role.

Requirements

  • 19 years or older
  • Ability to pass drug screening and classes
  • Pass DOT physical and DOT Road Test
  • Follow DOT Regulations
  • Operating handheld computers (e.g., inputting data, entering transactions, printing, etc.)
  • Operating equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, hand trucks, breakdowns, etc.)
  • Ability to perform lifting, loading, and pushing/pulling a significantly high volume of cases per day ranging from 20-45 pounds per case repeatedly during work hours (8-10)

Responsibilities

  • Attend classroom instruction and gain hands-on experience accompanying drivers on delivery routes.
  • Learn and assist with rotating and stocking products on store shelves, displays, vending equipment, and in coolers.
  • Learn to generate invoices and complete daily settlement of delivery orders.
  • Interact regularly with store management and customers to support service execution.
  • Participate in product delivery, customer service, and execution of promotions across multiple accounts daily.
  • Operate company vehicles under the supervision of a certified trainer while working toward CDL qualification.
  • Learn basic and advanced vehicle operations including forward driving, backing, turning, and maneuvering in tight spaces.
  • Assist in servicing all scheduled customers within the daily route.
  • Operate pallet jacks and assist in loading/unloading product from trucks.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with account contacts.
  • Follow all company operating procedures (e.g., scan-in/scan-out, route compliance, delivery procedures).
  • Comply with all DOT regulations and safety requirements.
  • Maintain regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
