About The Position
Olympic Disposal, a Waste Connections Company, is seeking a safety-conscious and reliable Class B Driver for a stable, full-time career opportunity in Sequim, WA. This role offers competitive pay, comprehensive benefits, and the advantage of being home every night. While previous waste industry experience is a plus, it is not required as training will be provided for the right candidate. The position involves operating a garbage truck on designated routes, performing vehicle inspections, and interacting courteously with customers. The work environment is physically demanding and involves exposure to various weather conditions and potential hazards.
Requirements
- Clean driving record (please bring a copy of your MVR to the in-person interview)
- Minimum 1 year of relevant driving experience
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
- Safety-Sensitive – YES (Drug Test Required)
Nice To Haves
- Previous waste industry experience
- Ability to operate 10-, 13-, and 18-speed transmissions
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Responsibilities
- Safely operate a garbage truck on designated routes to collect solid waste.
- Read route sheets and service each customer listed or assigned by the dispatcher.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on vehicles, including checking fluids, safety equipment, and tires.
- Perform a physically demanding job, including loading and unloading, sometimes without assistance.
- Operate hydraulic hand controls to lift and load refuse and dispose of trash at designated facilities.
- Interact courteously with customers and perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
