About The Position

Requirements

• Licensed mental health professional in New York State (e.g., LCSW, LMSW, LMHC, Licensed Psychologist), consistent with OMH staffing requirements.
• Minimum of 1–3 years of clinical experience preferred; experience in outpatient, crisis, or community-based mental health settings strongly preferred.
• Experience working in NYS OMH–licensed or certified programs preferred; MOHTRS or crisis services experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of crisis intervention, stabilization, and diversion from emergency department or inpatient care.
• Knowledge of NYS OMH regulations, documentation standards, and compliance requirements.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary treatment team.
• Commitment to trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, and culturally responsive care.
• Experience providing telehealth/teletherapy services preferred.
• Strong clinical judgment, therapeutic skills, documentation skills, and interpersonal communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Conduct psychosocial and mental health assessments, including evaluation of presenting problems, risk factors, strengths, and clinical needs.
• Provide individual and group psychotherapy using evidence-based and recovery-oriented treatment modalities appropriate for individuals in crisis.
• Participate in crisis intervention and stabilization services, including suicide and violence risk assessment, safety planning, and short-term therapeutic support.
• Develop, implement, and update individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary treatment team.
• Provide ongoing therapeutic support to assist individuals in symptom reduction, emotional regulation, coping skills development, and recovery goals.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, and other team members regarding clinical presentation, treatment progress, and care coordination.
• Coordinate with hospitals, emergency departments, community providers, and referral sources to support continuity of care and diversion from higher levels of care when appropriate.
• Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences, treatment team meetings, and clinical consultations.
• Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation in the electronic health record in accordance with OMH and agency standards.
• Participate in utilization review, quality assurance, and performance improvement activities as required.
• Comply with NYS OMH regulations, certification standards, documentation requirements, and audit processes.
• Participate in incident reporting, risk management, and corrective action planning as required.
• Provide services via telehealth/teletherapy when appropriate and consistent with program operations.
• Maintain required licensure, certifications, and continuing education in accordance with NYS and agency requirements.
