Dominion's Power Generation Engineering group seeks an Associate Engineering or Engineer with strong mechanical background and desire to learn and understand steam turbine and associated power station equipment, in addition to field support background. This position will be located at Dominion's Thomas Farrel Building in Richmond Virginia. The successful candidate needs to be able to work in a dynamic work environment with multiple groups to provide the support noted below in accordance with applicable codes and regulatory requirements for the Generation fleet and its auxiliaries. The successful candidate will be trained to provide the following corporate support to Dominion’s Power Generation (non-nuclear) fleet: Steam Turbine Engineering Inspection and Assessments - Perform and/or coordinate assessments and inspections to recommend cost effective short-term repair and long term preventive maintenance strategies, design improvements, and major equipment component replacement short/long term corporate strategies, requiring good equipment and system troubleshooting aptitudes; Steam Turbine Root Cause Analysis – Lead or support root cause assessments to provide recommendations to correct/mitigate repetitive events, including cost effective maintenance and operational procedures to maintain unit capacity and efficiency; Planned and Forced Outage Support – Provide component troubleshooting, assessments, and repair recommendations for more complex maintenance and operational events; e.g., component damage/aging/wear, run versus repair decisions based on technical risk, troubleshooting operational issues, etc. Work integrally with Stations, Outage Planning, Project Managers, and outside suppliers (OEM, vendors, etc.); Engineering General Support – Includes technical studies, field assessments with station personnel, work scopes and specification development, cost estimates, contract management input, construction support, vendor vetting, vendor repair shop QC surveillance, and coordination with maintenance or contractors for repair execution. Minor and very infrequent technical assistance is provided to Dominion’s Nuclear Group. Develop Multi-Year Short and Long-Term Maintenance Strategies – Perform annual reviews of steam turbine maintenance and operations for budget strategy and outage planning, including prioritizing repair funding on a fleet wide basis; Engineering and Condition Based Maintenance Assessments - Perform and assess steam turbine thermal and operational performance, vibration, rotor vibration, and rotor alignment reviews, using PI Process Book data, SAP and other tools; Corporate Steam Turbine Subject Matter Expert – Provide steam turbine engineering expertise for the station fleet, promoting best practices, including proactive review of applicable new technologies for the fleet.
