About The Position

This position provides comprehensive care to patients requiring ultrasound services in an organized and systematic manner according to departmental policy and standards. The Ultrasound Technician follows appropriate protocol for ultrasound studies unless specified differently by the Radiologist and for biopsies and other Interventional procedures if required. This role assumes accountability for managing delivery of care and patient safety, producing quality diagnostic images for interpretation, and obtaining and documenting patient history and pertinent information. The technician communicates with attending Radiologist and verifies provider orders, ensures exam room cleanliness after each procedure, and adheres to infection control standards specific to patient care. They prioritize and organize work assignments and adjust priorities based on changing situations, preparing patients for procedures by providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety. The ability to operate/modify equipment and technical factors as needed, and ensuring equipment is in acceptable condition by conducting routine quality control checks are also key responsibilities. The technician follows department standards for reporting equipment malfunctions or problems.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years' experience required.
  • ARDMS certification is required.
  • BLS certification is required.
  • Graduated from an accredited Sonography program.
  • The ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, is required.
  • Advanced computer skills including email, Microsoft applications and ability to comprehend and utilize Electronic Medical Record System, RIS and PACS Systems.
