About The Position

This role involves supporting students with special needs throughout the school day, assisting them in participating in lessons, daily activities, and assessments. The candidate will implement prescribed behavioral strategies and positive behavior support, and accompany students during related service sessions. Collaboration with the teaching team and special education team is crucial for planning and managing lessons, as well as providing regular communication about student development. The position also includes assisting in data collection and record-keeping, and participating in all training related to data collection and assessment.

Requirements

  • 2 or more years of teacher assistant/ dedicated aide experience

Nice To Haves

  • CEP degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting the student to participate in lessons, daily activities, and assessments.
  • Give lessons under the direction of the lead teacher
  • Implement prescribed behavioral strategies and positive behavior support in all settings.
  • Accompany and assist students during related service sessions (speech therapy, occupational therapy, etc).
  • Collaborate with the Lead Teacher and the Student Support Coordinator in the planning and management of lessons and work that the student will be doing independently and with support.
  • Provide regular communication about students' development to the lead teacher.
  • Assist in Data Collection and record-keeping
  • Participate in all training related to data collection and assessment.
  • Discuss observations with the lead teacher and other teaching staff.
