About The Position

Homestead Co-op is hiring a temporary Full-Time Deli Supervisor (Clerk II) at our Carman Food Store location for a 12-month term. The Deli Supervisor (Clerk II) is responsible for overseeing sales activities and service levels within the department, including adherence to asset protection, safe working conditions, Homestead Co-op brand/image standards, and product regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of retail and/or customer service experience required.
  • Your Food Safe/Food Handler Certification as required (or are willing to obtain).
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs repetitively and stand for long periods of time.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to lead and motivate a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
  • Completed a post-secondary program in Culinary Arts or a related field would be considered an asset. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience in a deli, food production, or fresh food retail environment is considered an asset.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing demands.
  • Proven ability to deliver strong customer service and resolve customer concerns effectively is an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience in merchandising, inventory control, and food handling practices is an asset.
  • Have the ability to demonstrate strong alignment to the values of Homestead Co-op: Integrity, Excellence, and Responsibility.
  • Proven abilities in Customer focus – building strong customer relationships and delivering customer-centric solutions.
  • Proven abilities in Directs Work – providing direction, delegating, and removing obstacles to get work done.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support the team, fostering a positive work environment and driving shift/unit objectives, including participation in recruitment and development.
  • Respond to customer inquiries, assess needs, and resolve issues promptly to maintain high satisfaction.
  • Deliver and support consistent, efficient, and friendly customer service; step in for direct service as needed.
  • Assist the manager with scheduling, work assignments, training coordination, and performance feedback to meet operational goals.
  • As per FIM (fresh item management) production requirements prepare, package and merchandise production items.
  • Additional duties as assigned to support the department and department manager.
