About The Position

The Town of Charlton is seeking a Water/Sewer Superintendent to oversee construction, maintenance, and operation activities for the town's water service and wastewater discharge. This role involves planning, developing, recommending, scheduling, and implementing strategies to ensure quality water delivery and proper wastewater management. The Superintendent will supervise contractor crews on projects such as installing new water/sewer lines, fire hydrants, and meters, as well as maintaining existing systems. A key responsibility is to ensure all construction and maintenance work adheres to applicable laws, policies, procedures, practices, and norms.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in civil engineering or related field.
  • Additional technical training.
  • 5-7 years of responsible experience in public works water/sewer utility systems maintenance.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Driver's License.

Nice To Haves

  • Grade 5C or higher MA wastewater operator license
  • Grade 2 or higher drinking water distribution license

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, recommend, schedule, implement, and oversee construction, maintenance, and operation activities for water and sewer systems.
  • Provide quality water service and ensure proper discharge of wastewater.
  • Supervise contractor crews in installing new water/sewer lines, fire hydrants, and meters.
  • Maintain existing water/sewer supply and distribution systems.
  • Oversee construction and maintenance work to ensure conformity to all applicable laws, policies, procedures, practices, and norms.
