Senior Security Investigator

About The Position
Participates in planning, organizing, and coordinating security and safety matters for the health system’s entities, people, and property. Conducts and collaborates on confidential and sensitive investigations, including field surveillance and the collection and cataloging of evidence. Provides executive protection and transportation as needed and participates in security training functions as necessary. May carry a firearm as directed and may be called upon to assist during an organization emergency. All listed responsibilities are essential functions under the Americans with Disabilities Act; related duties not listed are not essential functions.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- One of the following is required: NYS Armed Security Guard license and NYS Pistol Permit for the geographical area of employment and residence; NYS Private Investigator License and NYS Pistol Permit for the geographical area of employment and residence; or active NYS Police Officer Certification.
- At least five years of experience, in good standing, as an Armed Security Guard, NYS Police Officer, or NYS Private Investigator.
Responsibilities
- Conduct internal and external investigations into fraud or criminal activity against the company that results in loss of assets, records, or property.
- Investigate and address threats against employees, patients, and visitors, including matters such as Medicare fraud, financial crimes, internal theft, identity theft, drug diversion, prescription fraud, and crimes against employees or organization guests.
- Conduct surveillance of sites and suspects to gather evidence, establish probable cause, or link suspects to suspected fraud or criminal activity.
- Collaborate with local law enforcement on investigations.
- Collect and catalog physical evidence while maintaining chain of custody when applicable; testify in court if necessary.
- Participate in coordinating overall security and protection for people, facilities, and property in the organization.
- Perform field surveillance and assist with maintenance of security systems.
- Protect and transport senior leadership as needed.
- Assist with handling organization emergencies when called upon.
- Participate in security training functions as necessary.
- Carry a firearm as directed.
- Perform related duties as required.
