Licensed Senior Security Officer

About The Position
Under the direction of the Lead Security Officer, this role is responsible for performing all assigned security and safety duties. The Senior Security Officer will provide an armed, uniformed Security presence across SPHP campuses, assessing threats, providing immediate response to, and mitigating offenses against public order, life, and safety of colleagues, staff, patients, visitors, and others within SPHP buildings and grounds. The position involves investigating offenses or events, thorough reporting to the Lead Security Officer and other SPHP Leadership, and coordinating with law enforcement agencies based on threat assessment and offenses. The role also requires picking up hours as needed at acute care facilities other than the primary work location.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED Certificate required.
- Valid NYS Drivers License.
- Unexpired NYS Armed Security Guard License (includes firearms training and a valid NYS pistol permit).
- Minimum of five years Armed Security Guard experience.
- Knowledge and demonstrated understanding of the New York State Penal Law and Criminal Procedure Law.
- Knowledge and understanding of the use of force continuum and its application within a private security setting.
- Active police officer certification; active police officers required to obtain NYS Armed Security Guard license within 6 months of hire.
Nice To Haves
- Five (5) years Healthcare/ Hospital security or five (5) years Law Enforcement experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Perform all security and safety duties as assigned.
- Provide armed, uniformed Security presence throughout SPHP campuses.
- Assess threats.
- Provide immediate response to and mitigate offenses against public order, life and safety of colleagues, staff, patients, visitors and others on and within the buildings and grounds of SPHP.
- Conduct investigations and thorough reporting of offenses or events.
- Submit reports to Lead Security Officer and other SPHP Leadership.
- Coordinate with law enforcement agencies based on threat assessment and offenses.
- Pick up hours as the need arises, at Acute care facilities, other than primary work location.
