About The Position

Intrepid College Prep is seeking an Assistant Principal of STEM for the 26-27 School Year. Intrepid College Prep is a network of free, college preparatory public charter schools in Antioch, Tennessee, serving scholars in grades 5-12. The school's mission is to ensure scholars, educators, and families have the opportunity to unlock an unlimited future through rigorous academic instruction and powerful relationships. The Assistant Principal of STEM will work with the Principal and other Assistant Principals to foster a school culture focused on mastery of standards, achievement data, and teacher development to drive breakthrough learning. This role involves leading teacher development through facilitation, observations, coaching, and feedback.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Principal with oversight of curriculum development and improvement, student assessment (internal and external), and teacher development.
  • Supervise the daily instructional work of teachers on coaching load.
  • Conduct teacher observations and provide immediate feedback on performance based on pre-determined criteria of success.
  • Communicate regularly with the Principal concerning student achievement, teacher development and evaluation and curriculum design.
  • Collaborate with Instructional Coach, other Assistant Principals, Executive Principal and Senior Director of Academics to use systems for data analysis and data action following all internal and external assessments.
  • Model instructional strategies to improve student engagement, comprehension, and develop an effective instructional environment.
  • Ensure alignment between teachers’ classroom actions and the school’s mission and educational philosophy.
  • Work with teachers to problem-solve specific instructional challenges.
  • Provide coaching and support to staff based on survey data, observation data, and student outcomes.
  • Facilitate and provide staff development touchpoints for teachers and fellow leaders.
  • Observe and document staff performance, providing actionable feedback.
  • Availability and willingness to participate in after-school programs.
  • Availability and willingness to engage in a limited number of optional, evening/weekend student recruitment and community outreach events.
