About The Position

Wonderland Avenue Elementary School, established in 1927 and located in the Hollywood Hills, serves 420 students, including 145 in its Gifted/High Ability Magnet program. The school, a recipient of the 2016 National Blue Ribbon Award, offers a small community feel with a high-quality education and a connected community. The ideal candidate will be an innovative, empathetic, and inclusive leader with a strong instructional background, skilled in using data for multi-tiered systems of support. They will possess excellent communication skills, educational leadership experience, and a deep understanding of California State Standards, the English Learner Master Plan, and integrating technology. The role involves strategizing to provide differentiated learning opportunities for students' academic, social, emotional, psychological, and physical needs, creating systems and schedules, and problem-solving effectively. The Principal will also support faculty, staff, students, and parents, and build the capacity of certificated staff through understanding the Teaching and Learning Framework.

Requirements

  • Eight years of successful full-time public school district certificated service.
  • A minimum of three years of experience as a teacher in a K-12 program.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in an elementary school.
  • Two years of service in a position that required and utilized an administrative credential, such as assistant principal or equivalent position.
  • A valid California teaching credential requiring a Bachelor's degree and a program of professional preparation, including student teaching.
  • A valid California Administrative Services Credential.
  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Multicultural coursework.
  • District Master Plan requirements.
  • Must be in the appropriate LAUSD eligible pool for the position or currently serving in the class for which they are applying, or qualify for placement in the eligible pool by completing the LAUSD Aspiring Administrator Program.
  • Letter of Intent that describes successful experience in utilizing data to make informed decisions related to an instructional program.
  • Letter of Intent that describes successful experience in designing and delivering effective professional development to enhance teacher capacity to ensure quality instruction aligned to data with evidence of impact.
  • Letter of Intent that describes successful experience in collaborating with parents/community members/community groups to encourage engagement and foster school climate.
  • Current resume.
  • List of four (4) references with valid contact information including your current supervisor, classified staff member, parent/community member, and teacher.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with staff and the active parent community.
