About The Position

Wonderland Avenue Elementary School, established in 1927 and located in the Hollywood Hills of Los Angeles, serves a diverse student population of 420 students, including a Gifted/High Ability Magnet program. The school is known for its small community feel, excellent education, and strong community connections, and is a recipient of the 2016 National Blue Ribbon Award. The ideal candidate will be an innovative, empathetic, and inclusive leader with a strong instructional background, experienced in using data to implement multi-tiered systems of support, and knowledgeable about California State Standards and the English Learner Master Plan. The role requires the ability to strategize, provide differentiated learning opportunities, manage multiple tasks, create systems, solve problems efficiently, understand the Teaching and Learning Framework to build staff capacity, and integrate technology into teaching and learning. The Principal will support faculty, staff, students, and parents, and collaborate effectively with teachers and staff.

Requirements

  • Eight years of successful full-time public school district certificated service.
  • A minimum of three years of experience as a teacher in a K-12 program.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in an elementary school.
  • Two years of service in a position that required and utilized an administrative credential, such as assistant principal or equivalent position.
  • A valid California teaching credential requiring a Bachelor's degree and a program of professional preparation, including student teaching.
  • A valid California Administrative Services Credential.
  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Multicultural coursework.
  • District Master Plan requirements.
  • Must be in the appropriate LAUSD eligible pool for the position or currently serving in the class for which they are applying.
  • Must successfully complete the appropriate LAUSD Aspiring Administrator Program to be placed in the eligible pool.
  • Letter of Intent that describes successful experience in utilizing data to make informed decisions related to an instructional program.
  • Letter of Intent that describes successful experience in designing and delivering effective professional development to enhance teacher capacity to ensure quality instruction aligned to data with evidence of impact.
  • Letter of Intent that describes successful experience in collaborating with parents/community members/community groups to encourage engagement and foster school climate.
  • Current resume (include employee number, if a District employee).
  • List of four (4) references with valid contact information including your current supervisor, classified staff member, parent/community member, and teacher.

  • Candidates have one year to complete the Multicultural coursework and District Master Plan requirements.
