About The Position

Requirements

• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in Georgia.
• Associate’s degree in nursing (ADN) or nursing diploma required.
• At least one year of RN experience, demonstrated competence in RN I performance expectations, or meeting experience requirements upon hire.
• Ability to deliver safe, effective, and efficient care that meets population-specific guidelines.
• Effective communication with patients, families, colleagues, and healthcare team members at all levels.
• Ability to prioritize effectively, recognize problems, and use evidence-based practice.
• Demonstrated personal mastery and leadership of self and others as appropriate, including appropriate delegation and support of the NGHS shared governance model.
• Basic computer skills necessary to operate computer systems used on the unit.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Previous specialty experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and safe patient care using the nursing process and coordinate care for assigned patients during a shift.
• Provide effective care to complex adult medical and cardiac patients and support achievement of clinical outcomes.
• Serve as a full partner on the care team and respond willingly to team members’ requests for assistance.
• Lead interdisciplinary rounds to support appropriate care and smooth transitions across the care continuum.
• Apply the organization’s professional model of care to address patients’ and families’ clinical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs.
• Identify clinical, social, safety, psychological, ethical, and spiritual issues through critical thinking.
• Delegate care appropriately while remaining accountable for the quality of care provided.
• Communicate clearly and effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members, including physicians and advanced practice providers; use safety and error-prevention tools.
• Seek feedback and opportunities to improve specialty practice, apply evidence-based practice, and identify quality improvement opportunities.
• Participate in unit-based shared governance, council and quality activities, and efforts to improve patient experience, employee engagement, and nursing-sensitive indicators.
• Support team development, recruit and retain an excellent nursing care team, and serve as a resource for students.
• Promote respectful, culturally aware, inclusive, and healthy working relationships; hold peers accountable for healthy relationships.
• Model safe work hours, time management, efficiency, and stewardship; participate in unit-based self-care activities.
• Achieve and maintain de-escalation training certification as appropriate for the work unit.
• For new graduate clinical RNs, develop knowledge and skills and demonstrate growth in caring for increasingly complex patients with guidance from experienced clinicians.
