About The Position

The Registered Nurse works in the Transitional Care Unit at Whittier Rehabilitation Hospital in Westborough, Massachusetts. This is a casual position scheduled every other Tuesday and every other Wednesday from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. The listed pay rate is $44.00–$47.00 per hour. The unit recently received U.S. News & World Report’s 2025 Best Transitional Care Unit award. The nurse supervises and evaluates resident care, provides clinical supervision to nursing assistants, and ensures regulatory compliance within the assigned unit. The role includes maintaining timely physician orders and documentation, conducting resident rounds, responding to resident problems and emergencies, and administering and documenting medications, enteral nutrition, treatments, and care.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited RN school of nursing.
Current Massachusetts RN license.
Knowledge of geriatric nursing.
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification in accordance with American Heart Association or American Red Cross standards.

Responsibilities

Supervises and evaluates all direct resident care and initiates corrective action as necessary.
Provides clinical supervision of nursing assistants providing direct resident care.
Assumes responsibility for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations within the assigned unit.
Ensures physician renewal orders and physician documentation are timely and appropriate.
Conducts resident rounds, reports problems to the nursing supervisor, and initiates corrective action.
Identifies resident problems and emergency situations and initiates immediate life-saving measures within the scope of nursing practice and in accordance with advance directives.
Administers and documents medications, enteral nutrition, and treatments per physician orders, and accurately records care provided and observations daily.
