About The Position

Banner Health is hiring a full-time new graduate Registered Nurse for the Medical/Surgical Orthopedic Trauma unit at Banner University Medical Center–Phoenix. The New Nurse Experience (NNE) is a residency program accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Practice Transition Accreditation Program. It provides a collaborative learning environment to help new graduates refine nursing skills, build knowledge and transition into professional nursing practice. Nurses are clinically mentored by unit staff and educators and are expected to remain on their NNE unit for at least 12 months. New graduates must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the facility. The role provides nursing care to a varied medical-surgical population, including medical, surgical, orthopedic, bowel and trauma patients. The nurse assesses patients, develops and revises plans of care, delivers and coordinates care, evaluates outcomes, documents care, and collaborates with patients, families and the multidisciplinary team. The position also supports patient and staff education, professional development, evidence-based care, and quality improvement. The unit offers day and night positions; most new nurses work three 12-hour shifts with weekend and holiday rotations. The residency includes preceptor-supported clinical experiences, training at the Banner Simulation Center, competency and skills assessments, orientation to the Cerner electronic health record, hands-on patient-care skills lab experience, e-learning modules, and professional and personal development resources. The position offers access to nursing career pathways and development opportunities.
