About The Position

The Respiratory Care Practitioner is responsible for a wide range of pulmonary function testing as part of a multispecialty group that includes both adult and pediatric pulmonary specialists and a long-standing CHAD CF clinic. This is a Full-Time position, 40 hours/week.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree and passed CRT or RRT exam.
  • Trained and competent to perform all necessary procedures on a population of pediatrics, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients with various respiratory conditions.
  • Maintains knowledge of recent advances in medical principles of respiratory therapy equipment, procedures, and medications.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of specialized examination and tests associate with respiratory therapy, CF programs and understand the reasons for the individual patient's needs and respiratory therapy plan.
  • Licensed Respiratory Practitioner within the State of NH.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) upon hire.
  • NBRC Certified or Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist Credential must be attained within 6 months of hire.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) upon hire.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) within 180 days.
  • PALS (Pediactric Advanced Life Support) within 180 days.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous work experience in Pulmonary Function Testing preferred.
  • Anatomy and Physiology I, II preferred as well as basic medical terminology.
  • Excellent communication skills, well-motivated and enthusiastic to deliver high quality outpatient tests.
  • Strong critical thinking, attention to detail, compassion, and the ability to work under high-stress situations.
  • Works collaboratively with Providers, Leadership, and CF Program Director.

Responsibilities

  • Performs cardiopulmonary and provocative bronchial reactivity testing.
  • Challenges with accuracy and precision necessary to satisfy department standards and physician interpreters.
  • Participate in the care of our adult and pediatric CF population. This will include attending clinic, care coordination, and equipment management.
  • Administer medications as appropriate for scope.
  • Performs pulmonary function testing including spirometry, diffusion capacity, airway resistance, lung volumes, respiratory muscle strength and venous blood gasses.
  • Ability to safely assist with and monitor patients during field walking tests (e.g., ambulation assessments), while Instructing patients about the testing procedure prior to test administration.
  • Edits the information and decides which values best represent the patients' condition and evaluates the validity of results.
  • Collects, reduces, calculates, stores and summarizes data for presentation to physicians as appropriate.
  • Regularly calibrates the equipment.
  • Troubleshoots and provides basic preventive and corrective maintenance of equipment.
  • Maintains adequate inventory for supplies and spare parts for equipment.
  • Supervises compliance of all facility and safety regulations including prevention of transmission of infection, while maintaining standards of practice and compliance with CF foundation national standards.
  • Other duties are assigned or required.
