Requirements

• Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC; RRT credential) and New York State Respiratory Therapist license OR Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC; CRT credential) and New York State Respiratory Therapy Technician license OR Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care Certification for Pulmonary Function Technology (CPFT).
• Computer competency, including basic understanding of, and ability to work with, Microsoft Windows based pulmonary function software programs.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent communication (both oral and written), interpersonal, and organization skills.
• Able to perform all aspects of Pulmonary Function Testing.
• Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in Pulmonary Function Lab highly desired.

Responsibilities

• Performs other duties as assigned
• Checks and validates physician order for testing procedure. Schedules patients for testing. Performs FVL, FVC, Lung Volumes, DLCO, MVV as required.
• Generates appropriate paperwork to permit the interpretation of Pulmonary Function Tests. Reviews folders on a daily basis to insure efficient turnaround of patient reports.
• Performs Methacholine Challenge testing for WUH attendings and private attendings. Reviews schedule with Pharmacy to insure optimal utilization of Provocholine.
• Responsible for performing Pulmonary Function testing which includes Lung Volumes, Spirometries, Diffusion Capacity, Methacholine Challenges and Pulmonary Exercise testing as required.
• Performs daily quality assurance on the equipment to insure the quality and validity of the tests performed.
