About The Position

The Department of Higher Education & Learning Technologies at East Texas A&M University, a student-ready, Doctoral University classified as R2: High Research Activity by the Carnegie Classification, invites applications for a tenured or tenured track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor (tenure-track), Associate Professor (tenured), or Professor (tenured). This is a 9-month appointment, to begin in Fall 2026 or Spring 2027. Individuals seeking appointment as a tenured Associate Professor or Professor are required to meet the department’s established criteria for tenure and promotion before the appointment is made. Requirements

  • Hold an earned doctorate in the field or study of Higher Education, Adult & Continuing Education, or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution in the United States
  • Have a beginning record of scholarly research productivity (for Assistant Professor)
  • Have demonstrated teaching ability and experience at the graduate level
  • Have the potential to direct doctoral dissertations (for Assistant Professor)
  • Demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching, service, and intellectual contributions to the discipline (research)
  • Have a substantial record of scholarly research productivity (for Associate Professor)
  • Have experience directing doctoral dissertations (for Associate Professor)
  • Have demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues (for Associate Professor)
  • Be proficient in the English language both orally and in writing (for Associate Professor)
  • Demonstrate expertise in online delivery of instruction (for Associate Professor)
  • Demonstrate experience in curriculum and program development (for Associate Professor)
  • Have excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills (for Associate Professor)
  • Demonstrate the ability to collaborate effectively with all members of the university community and a commitment to meet the professional needs of the region’s varied populations (for Associate Professor)
  • Requires the ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others (for Associate Professor)
  • Have international recognition as a proven scholar or researcher in the field of higher education administration, adult and continuing education, or a closely related field (for Full Professor)
  • Have a proven track record of substantial grantsmanship and external funding (for Full Professor)
  • Have graduated a substantial number of doctoral students who have progressed to successful careers in the field and profession of higher education (for Full Professor)
  • Have demonstrated success as an excellent teacher and advisor to graduate students (for Full Professor)
  • Established experiences with research, teaching, service, and/or administration in higher education (for Full Professor)
  • Experience and/or knowledge in one of the following: higher education organizational theory, leadership, governance, student affairs, academic affairs, higher education finance, higher education law, history of higher education (for Full Professor)
  • Proven expertise in research methodologies, in the qualitative and quantitative traditions (for Full Professor)
  • Demonstrated commitment to the use of technology in instruction, including online delivery of instruction (for Full Professor)
  • Evidence of effective interaction with students, faculty, administration, regional and national constituents (for Full Professor)
  • Active participation in professional organizations (e.g., ASHE, ACPA, NASPA, AIR, AERA, AACC) (for Full Professor)

Responsibilities

  • Teach online
  • Implement a significant, ongoing program of focused scholarly research and publications, including collaborative efforts with appropriate content area faculty
  • Provide service and leadership to national and regional professional organizations, the university, college, and department
  • Chair and serve on master’s and doctoral student committees
  • Advise masters and doctoral students
  • Foster a professional environment characterized by mutual respect
  • Demonstrate the ability to engage effectively with a broad range of perspectives and backgrounds
  • Possess the interpersonal skills necessary to enhance teaching, programming, and service activities for a varied campus community
  • Other duties as required
