About The Position

Massasoit Community College is hiring a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor in Visual Arts-Fine Arts for the Spring 2027 semester. The successful candidate will specialize in teaching printmaking, including Monoprint and Monotype, Intaglio, Silkscreen, Relief, and Printmaking Seminar, and may teach other Visual and Fine Arts courses. Courses will take place primarily on campus at the Canton location and may be scheduled during the day or evening, including courses offered through the Early College Program. Assignments may include all Massasoit sites and other locations as necessary. Visual Arts faculty support the College’s Fine Arts and Graphic Design degree programs and foster a learner-centered environment focused on access, equity, hands-on experience, and career readiness. The role includes teaching and student support, advising, office hours, participation in department, division, and college meetings and committees, curriculum and assessment work, professional development, outreach, recruitment, and other duties described in the MCCC Collective Bargaining Agreement. There may be an opportunity to contribute to program growth and pursue a path toward program coordination. The position is state-funded and includes benefits. It reports directly to the Dean of Liberal Studies and the Arts. The full academic-year salary range is $58,438–$67,833, commensurate with education and experience and based on the MCCC collective bargaining agreement classification compensation tool. Salary is prorated for spring-semester appointments based on the appointment start date and period of service; compensation is paid over 26 pay periods, as applicable.

Requirements

  • Master of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art.
  • Experience working with a diverse student population.
  • Demonstrated college-level teaching experience in the discipline.
  • Clearly demonstrate in the resume and cover letter how the minimum requirements are met.

Nice To Haves

  • Master of Fine Arts or terminal degree with a focus on Printmaking.
  • Experience working with non-toxic methods in the studio.
  • Experience with curriculum development, assessment of learning outcomes, and/or program review in Visual Arts.
  • Experience teaching at an open-access or community college institution.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary division.
  • Interest in contributing to the development and growth of Massasoit’s Visual Arts Degree Programs.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Visual Arts and Printmaking courses in alignment with department needs and faculty expertise.
  • Create and sustain an inclusive, collaborative, practice-based learning environment.
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback on students’ performance and artistic and written assignments.
  • Evaluate student achievement and assign grades according to departmental and college standards.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, assessment, and grade records.
  • Hold and post required office hours.
  • Advise and mentor students on academic progress, transfer options, and career pathways.
  • Contribute to Visual Arts curriculum review, development, and assessment.
  • Participate in department, division, and college meetings and initiatives.
  • Support Early College and dual-enrollment offerings as assigned.
  • Monitor and respond to student and college email communications in a timely manner.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development related to the discipline.
  • Participate in college-wide committees, outreach events, and recruitment efforts that support the visibility and enrollment of the Visual Arts Degree Programs.
  • Collaborate with other departments on interdisciplinary projects and co-curricular events.
  • Support student initiatives on campus.
  • Contribute to the growth of the Visual Arts Degree Programs and other programs within the Liberal Studies and the Arts Division; the role may offer a path toward program coordination.
