About The Position

The Department of Physics at Arizona State University seeks a full-time experimental physicist in quantum science, with particular interest in advancing quantum sensing and approaches that bridge classical and quantum systems. Research may involve superconducting, spin, photonic, phononic, mechanical, atomic, molecular, or quantum-material platforms; quantum transduction and networking; quantum-limited measurement; or applications in fundamental physics, materials, or biological systems. Candidates whose work connects multiple quantum platforms are especially encouraged. The anticipated start date is Fall 2027. The appointment will be at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level, commensurate with experience, and is located on ASU’s Main Campus in Tempe, Arizona, with physical presence required. The successful candidate will establish a vigorous, independent, externally funded research program; conduct and publish high-quality research; teach undergraduate and graduate physics courses; and advise, supervise, and mentor students and research trainees. The faculty member will collaborate with colleagues across ASU and external partners, pursue and manage research funding, participate in university and professional service, and contribute to an inclusive, supportive academic environment. The position offers opportunities to collaborate with established efforts including the Center for Biological Physics, The Cosmology Initiative, and departmental nanoscience and materials physics groups, as well as colleagues in the School of Molecular Sciences, the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering, and the Biodesign Institute. Research infrastructure includes the Compact X-ray Free Electron Laser (CXFEL) Labs, the John M. Cowley Center for High Resolution Electron Microscopy, the Eyring Materials Center, ASU NanoFab, and MacroTechnology Works. Applicants are encouraged to explain how their research plans would use these facilities and connect with existing groups and centers.

Requirements
