About The Position
The Process Operator oversees the daily operation of an assigned area of the production process at Valero’s Albert City Ethanol Plant. The role monitors production quality and equipment, helps maintain operations within required parameters, and supports Company policies, goals, and objectives while maintaining a safe work environment. The position works a 12-hour rotating shift schedule and is hourly, nonexempt, and eligible for overtime pay. The operator monitors and controls plant operations, reviews production and quality, anticipates and resolves problems, and identifies opportunities to improve efficiency or reduce costs. The role also documents process variables and sample data, participates in quality assurance and safety, health, and environmental programs, coordinates with facility departments, troubleshoots process and equipment issues, prepares equipment for maintenance work, and helps maintain plant cleanliness and reliable operations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Able and willing to work on-site, in person, at the Valero Albert City Ethanol Plant.
Nice To Haves
- Associate degree in Process Technology or equivalent.
- Experience operating a dry-mill ethanol plant.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and control plant operations.
- Continuously review plant operations to monitor production and quality, anticipate and resolve problems, and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Participate in projects that improve efficiency or reduce operating costs.
- Document and monitor process variables, sample data, and routine tasks to maintain operations within operating parameters.
- Participate in the Quality Assurance/Quality Control program, interpret results, and take appropriate action when required.
- Communicate with facility departments to support safe and efficient execution of daily plant activities.
- Monitor and troubleshoot process issues and equipment.
- Perform scheduled Operations Work Requests as directed by the Supervisor or Plant Management.
- Prepare equipment so it is safe for maintenance personnel or contractors to perform scheduled work.
- Use company safe work practices to ensure work is performed safely.
- Participate in safety, health, and environmental programs, including LOTO, Safe Work Permit, and FSMA programs.
- Participate in programs and procedures that ensure plant cleanliness.
- Monitor the use and inventory of process chemicals and supplies.
- Perform other duties as assigned to maintain safe, reliable, and consistent operations.
