About The Position

Working under the direction of senior managers, this role assists in the selection, evaluation, and ongoing monitoring of managers. It involves developing risk and investment guidelines, and completing special research/due diligence reports. The analyst will analyze investment performance data and the elements of risk present in ‘alternative’ funds/ managers and liquid alternatives, potentially with the assistance of other staff. Responsibilities may include assigned responsibility for specific asset classes and/or for monitoring/ongoing investment &/or operational due diligence for specific managers. The incumbent may be tasked to support/perform investment &/or operational due diligence activities leveraging qualitative & quantitative tools and approaches. This role is for someone still refining their understanding of investment decision-making and manager selection. The analyst will help source, evaluate/research and monitor 40-50 managers for a platform of hedge funds, fofs and liquid alternatives; help manage a fund of funds (i.e. portfolio mgmt.); contribute to published research on hedge fund investment and write monitoring reports; help support and advise firm strategists/brokers and UHNW (and institutional) clients on hedge fund investing, our recommended list and the range of education, research and support materials available for advisors. Contribute to Research via active help to sourcing, evaluating and monitoring hfs, hedge fofs and liquid alternatives for 40-50 fund “platform. Provide guidance to advisors and contribute to published research on alternatives (e.g. guidance portfolios), asset allocation. Contribute to the management of a proprietary hedge fund of funds (i.e. MMP). Help serve a hedge fund advisory business, by support creation of custom AI portfolios and portfolio completion exercises for advisors, their clients and prospects. Contribute to research for the portfolio strategy team (i.e. Lerner et al.) and F& E group vis-a-vis advice and guidance on input to AI model allocations, manager selection and AI-derived market insights.

Requirements

  • College degree or equivalent education, with relevant grounding in math, finance, writing and related analytical skills.
  • Ideally, this should show strong performance at a competitive undergraduate institution.
  • minimum 1-3 years of experience working in financial services, investment management or similarly leverageable industry background.
  • familiarity/competence in basic computer applications.
  • ideally, familiarity with research databases and/or investment tools (e.g. Morningstar, Evestment/Tamale, Code Red).
  • Strong quantitative skills and/or evidence of skill with excel, pertrak/Evestment and/or other common risk measurement/fund evaluation tools.
  • Exhibits or possesses high degree of intellectual curiosity about investments, research and/or the alternative investment industry; evidence of strong grounding/capability in written analysis, research and math.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant undergraduate focus or evidence of passionate engagement with topics in business, finance and investments.
  • 1-5 years of financial services or related industry experience.
  • strong grounding in writing skill and mathematics.
  • Exhibits or possesses high degree of intellectual curiosity about investments, research and/or the alternative investment industry; evidence of strong grounding/capability in written analysis, research and math.
  • Language skills: especially Asian languages (e.g. Mandarin, Japanese), Spanish or Portuguese.

Responsibilities
