About The Position

Freestone is seeking a proactive and organized Private Equity Analyst to join its Investment Team and work within the Advantage Partners Fund Series, the firm’s opportunistic private markets platform. The platform provides clients access to direct investments in private equity, energy, credit, and specialty insurance. Private equity and energy strategies typically involve majority-control positions alongside management teams, with investments across industrial services, oil and gas, and business services. Credit and specialty insurance strategies broaden the platform’s private-markets coverage. Now in its seventh fund vintage, the platform has grown with Freestone’s client base, seeded dedicated strategy funds, and continues to expand into new strategies and relationships. The Analyst will contribute to sourcing and filtering investment opportunities, fund operations, internal reporting, and team administration. The role owns a varied set of investment workflows and fund operations, requiring organization, responsiveness, and close attention to detail. It also involves underwriting opportunities and turning investment analysis into recommendations for the Portfolio Manager and Freestone’s Investment Committee.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree and 1–3 years of work experience within financial services or asset management.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple ongoing workflows.
Strong financial modeling and analytical skills; advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
Interest in private markets and alternative investments, with working knowledge of capital markets.
High attention to detail and an ownership mentality.
Comfort serving as a first point of contact with managers, operators, and intermediaries, and building relationships over time.
Results-oriented approach and comfort working in a small, collaborative team.
Highest level of commitment to ethics and professionalism.
Ability to travel periodically, including for conferences and networking events.

Responsibilities

Manage the investment pipeline by scheduling and reviewing incoming pitches, serving as a first point of contact for managers, operators, and intermediaries, and keeping activity current in the team’s CRM.
Complete initial underwriting of new opportunities and share summaries and recommendations with the team.
Collect and integrate monthly and quarterly reporting from underlying investment platforms and maintain regular touchpoints with investment partners.
Create and maintain Investment Committee materials and memos.
Produce and update marketing materials and reporting for Freestone clients, advisor teams, and other groups across the firm.
Maintain fund models, liquidity forecasts, and investor capital activity schedules.
Prepare external reports for Freestone’s accounting and banking relationships.
Build and maintain relationships with investment bankers, brokers, and intermediaries to expand deal flow, including attending conferences and regional networking events.
Conduct industry and market research for current and prospective asset classes.
Support ad hoc portfolio management projects and fund-level analysis.
