About The Position

The Coordinator Education RN is responsible for coordinating all education and professional development activities within assigned areas. This role involves leading and participating in projects aimed at resolving issues, improving practice, and recognizing professional excellence. The coordinator also supports C.A.P.E. activities and events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BSN) Degree in Nursing required within 12 months of hire.
  • Current State of Texas License as a Registered Nurse.
  • Certification within area of specialty (e.g., CEN, CPEN, CCRN, CNOR).
  • ACLS, PALS or ENPC, and TNCC required within 12 months of date of employment as required by area.
  • ACLS, ENPC, and TNCC Instructor certification required within 24 months of hire date as required by area.
  • BLS Instructor certification.
  • Early Acute Stroke recognition and treatment as required by area.

Nice To Haves

  • Master of Science (MSN) degree in nursing with a concentration in education preferred.
  • Certification in nursing education or professional development preferred (Nursing Professional Development-American Nurse Credentialing Center) must be obtained within 5 years.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all preceptor program and activities in assigned areas including training, and assignments. This also includes the evaluation for the effectiveness of the preceptor program and individual preceptors.
  • Coordinate the development of the Subject Matter Experts program and activities in assigned areas including training, and evaluation of competency where applicable.
  • Identify learning needs in assigned areas (includes individual and groups) and coordinate corresponding continuing education activities.
  • Participate in organizational learning needs assessment and corresponding continuing education activities.
  • Coordinate professional development program for assigned areas, including promotion and tracking of advanced degrees and specialty certifications.
  • Focus on patient safety, quality improvement and evidence-based practice.
  • Demonstrate responsibility for both personal and departmental peers continued competence in nursing practice, and develop insight through reflection, analysis, care, and lifelong learning.
  • Evaluate current evidenced-based practices that are relevant to the employing practice setting.
  • To serve as a member of the CNE approved provider unit as a qualified Nurse Planner through all stages of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of continuing nursing education activities. The Nurse Planner assumes authority, accountability and responsibility for adherence to the TNA and ANCC COA criteria in individual education activities.
  • Act as formal and informal consultants: Assisting individuals and groups in defining problems, identifying available internal and external educational resources, and selecting educational options.
  • Act as formal and informal consultants: Assisting areas or groups in issue resolution, performance improvement, or recognition through a process of research, analysis, recommendation, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Coordinate implementation activities for education, new processes, new technology, and new products.
  • Ensure competency both initial and ongoing for assigned area’s skills, new equipment, and protocols.
  • Organize educational classes required by employing health care institution.
  • Maintain current education files, assuring completeness in order to meet all required standards.
