About The Position

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Pharmacy Technician Certification.
• Current Illinois Pharmacy Technician license.
• Minimum of 4 years of hospital-based pharmacy technician experience.
• Experience adding measured drugs or nutrients to intravenous solutions under sterile conditions to prepare intravenous preparations under pharmacist supervision.
• Strong mathematical ability to interpret prescription orders and dispense medication, including compounding tablets into liquid.
• Strong customer service and communication skills for interacting with patients, coworkers, healthcare professionals, and vendors.
• Time management and multitasking ability to work in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment and ensure timely delivery of daily carts and orders.
• Demonstrated follow-through, decision-making, and analytical skills to address discrepancies, missing medications, and medication ordering.
• Ability to push delivery carts weighing up to 40 lbs, and lift and stock items for delivery and inventory control.
• Knowledge of all technician roles.

• Experience with Microsoft Office, Cerner, and Talyst auto carousel.

Responsibilities

• Oversee compounding activities, including training, preparation, documentation, cleaning, and inventory management.
• Oversee routine drug inventory activities, including Carousel cycle counts, floor stock inspections, and controlled substance perpetual inventory as directed.
• Assist the purchaser with maintenance of outpatient, spasticity, and emergency medication inventories.
• Assist pharmacists with review of new admission medication profiles.
• Assist the Pharmacy Director and Pharmacy Operations Manager with quality initiatives.
• Interview applicants for pharmacy technician positions and oversee training activities and documentation.
• Dispense medication for inpatient Unit Dose Cassettes and SRAlab sites of care.
• Prepack tablets, capsules, and liquids under the supervision of a Registered Pharmacist and according to policy.
• Prepare and deliver injections and I.V. admixtures.
• Order medications and supplies from wholesalers and other pharmaceutical sources, and inspect incoming merchandise for accuracy.
• Monitor stock expiration dates and prepare returns of outdated drugs to wholesalers and manufacturers for credit.
• Maintain cleanliness of the Pharmacy and equipment.
• Perform other duties that may be assigned in the best interest of Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.
