About The Position

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with endorsements or required training for the assigned subject and level.
• Knowledge of the assigned core academic subject.
• General knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
• Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
• Strong organizational, verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Clinical teaching or an approved internship.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill district curriculum requirements and maintain written evidence of preparation.
• Prepare lessons that accommodate differences in student learning styles.
• Teach TEKS and district curriculum in accordance with applicable guidelines, policies, and regulations.
• Use varied instructional techniques suited to students’ needs and capabilities and incorporate technology into teaching and learning.
• Collaborate with staff to plan and implement instructional goals, objectives, and methods in accordance with district requirements.
• Analyze and disaggregate data to help meet students’ academic needs.
• Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for instructional aides and/or volunteers.
• Help students analyze and improve their study methods and habits.
• Support student success as measured by state and district curriculum and assessments.
• Assess student accomplishments regularly and provide progress reports as required.
• Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned.
• Create a learning environment appropriate to students’ maturity and interests.
• Manage student behavior in accordance with district policies and the Student Code of Conduct.
• Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
• Compile, maintain, and file required reports, records, and documents in a timely manner.
• Maintain open communication and professional relationships with students, parents, colleagues, supervisors, and community members.
• Communicate information accurately and clearly and follow the district organizational chart when communicating with constituents.
• Model positive, professional, ethical, and responsible behavior consistent with the district mission and Educator Code of Ethics.
• Participate in professional learning activities and demonstrate initiative in professional improvement.
• Stay informed about and comply with applicable legal and local policies, regulations, and procedures.
• Attend and participate in staff meetings and serve on committees as assigned.
