About The Position

Camels Hump Middle School in Richmond, Vermont, is seeking a Physical Education Teacher for a long-term substitute position from December 14, 2026, through February 19, 2027. The school serves approximately 340 students in grades 5–8 and aims to foster an inclusive learning community where students learn actively and collaboratively, think creatively and critically, face challenges, and contribute positively to the school community.

The successful candidate will plan and teach developmentally appropriate physical education lessons, organize units and classroom procedures, and create a differentiated, socially and emotionally safe learning environment. They will build positive relationships with students and colleagues and use inclusive, equitable teaching practices. Applicants should be endorsed in Physical Education. MMUUSD expects successful applicants to support the success of every learner and engage in ongoing capacity building for diverse learners.

Requirements

• Physical Education endorsement.
• Strong planning and instructional skills at the middle school level.
• Experience organizing physical education units and lessons, systems, and procedures.
• Experience with effective classroom behavior management.
• Ability to create strong, positive relationships with students and colleagues.
• Commitment to inclusive and equitable teaching practices and to supporting diverse learners.
